March 14 is World Kidney Day, an opportunity to raise awareness about kidney health and highlight the important role early detection and prevention play in improving outcomes within our community!

Kidney disease often develops without noticeable symptoms, which makes awareness and preventive care especially important. In fact, 1 in 7 adults in the United States has chronic kidney disease (CKD), and many people do not realize they have the condition until it has already progressed.

Routine preventive screenings can make a significant difference in identifying risk early and protecting long-term kidney health. These screenings may include: blood pressure checks, blood glucose monitoring, and kidney function tests such as eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate) and UACR (urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio).

When kidney disease is identified early, patients have more opportunities to manage their condition, slow its progression, and maintain a better quality of life.

Supporting Kidney Health at Major Health Partners

At Major Health Partners, we are committed to supporting kidney health through a comprehensive approach that focuses on prevention, education, and accessible care. Our efforts include:

  • Early detection and prevention of kidney disease

  • Patient education and Kidney Care Options (KCO) programs

  • Access to dialysis and life-sustaining therapies close to home

  • Collaboration between primary care, specialty care, and community resources

Kidney health is closely connected to many conditions our providers treat every day, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and obesity. By working collaboratively across departments, our care teams can identify patients who may be at risk and connect them with the right resources and treatment plans.

A Community Effort

World Kidney Day also serves as a reminder of how important it is for individuals to understand their personal risk factors and take proactive steps toward prevention. We encourage everyone to:

  • Learn the risk factors for kidney disease

  • Talk with their healthcare provider about kidney health

  • Stay up to date on recommended preventive screenings

Recognizing Our Nephrology Team

We would also like to recognize our dedicated Nephrology Team, who care for our patients with kidney disease every day. Their expertise, compassion, and commitment make a meaningful difference for patients and families throughout our community!

By working together - through awareness, prevention, and coordinated care - we can continue to improve kidney health and support better outcomes for the communities we serve!
