MHP Incident Command Update

March 9, 2022

General update: Shelby County’s current positivity rate decreased drastically to 3.7% and Indiana’s positivity rate equally decreased to 3.7%. Shelby County is now in the “yellow” category and we expect to be in the “blue” category as soon as next week.

Inpatient unit: Twenty-seven of our 40 beds are full on our 3rd-floor inpatient unit.

  • We currently have six critical care patients on the 3rd floor, and none of those patients are due to Covid.
  • We have no patients on a ventilator. We have two additional patients who are on Vapotherm or BiPap, and those are not due to Covid.
  • Only one of our inpatients is Covid positive, and that individual is vaccinated.

Urgent Care and walk-in volumes: MHP Priority Care and MHP Family & Internal Medicine are experiencing normal volumes for this time of year and little to no Covid positive patients at this time. MHP Pediatrics is averaging 70 walk-in patients per day and flu A and strep throat are the main reason for the volume increase. We had 19 flu-A positive patients yesterday. We are not seeing any Covid positive pediatric patients at this time.

Emergency Department: The Emergency Department is averaging 66 patients per day, which is a normal volume for this time of year. We do not have any infusions scheduled for today.
