The MHP Foundation commends the efforts of MHP staff, providers, and patients
for their vigilance during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) event.
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that has not previously been identified.
This is not the same as the coronavirus that commonly circulates among
humans and causes mild illness like the common cold. It is a respiratory
illness that can spread between people who are in close contact with one
another. There are currently no vaccines for this disease.
What are the symptoms?
Patients with COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory illness symptoms
including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. If you are experiencing
flu-like symptoms and are worried you may have acquired COVID-19, it is
best to call MHP's triage center at
317-392-DOCS for further instructions from our care team.
Is it safe to come to MHP?
Although there are visitor restrictions currently in place, it is
absolutely safe to come to the medical center for your scheduled visit. MHP is diligently
promoting a clean, safe environment for any patients at the medical center.
Staff are required to wear masks inside of facilities; EVS, Central Sterile,
and other motivated staff members sanitize and clean surfaces consistently;
and patients are provided free resources to follow personal sanitation
precautions.
What is MHP & the MHP Foundation doing to help?
Both organizations are continuing to work in close contact with the Indiana
State Department of Health and the CDC to obtain the latest statistics,
details, and treatment plans. All precautions are being taken to protect
patients and staff.
The MHP Foundation is actively fundraising to support MHP caregivers and
patients in any way they need. This includes monetary donations, supplies,
and morale-boosters like cards and positive messages.
How can I help?
If you would like to make a gift of PPE, supplies, encouraging messages,
or a monetary donation to the COVID-19 fund, please contact agill@majorhospital.org.
