MHP Incident Command Update

General update: Shelby County’s current positivity rate is currently 29.5% and Indiana’s
positivity rate is 29.6%. The state is reporting that 88% of all new Covid
cases are the omicron variant and 12% remain the Delta variant. The state
reports that the Covid hospitalization rate is continuing to trend downward.

Inpatient unit: Thirty-seven of our 40 beds are full on our 3rd-floor inpatient unit.
- We currently have 9 critical care patients on the 3rd floor, and 5 (56%)
of those patients are due to Covid. Of the 5 Covid-related critical care
patients, one is vaccinated.
- We have three patients on a ventilator and all of those patients are Covid
positive and one vaccinated. We have five additional patients who are
on Vapotherm or BiPap, and four of those patients are Covid positive and
two of those patients are vaccinated.
- Twenty (54%) of our inpatients are Covid positive, and twelve (60%) of
them are unvaccinated.
Urgent Care and walk-in volumes:
Priority Care experienced the fewest number of patients over the weekend
compared to the last several weeks. Today, both Priority Care and MHP
Family and Internal Medicine have a typical number of walk-in patients.
Emergency Department: The Emergency Department is currently averaging 68.5 patients per day,
which is similar to our normal volume this time of year. The number of
Covid infusion patients also continues to decline.
