Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving driven by social media.
It occurs each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, the
MHP Foundation used Giving Tuesday to celebrate better health by kickstarting
fundraising for our new mission addition: social determinants of health.
MHP and the MHP Foundation will be addressing four social determinants
of health: early childhood education, behavioral health, obesity, and
transportation. You can learn more about our efforts on the next page.
This mission addition means big, positive changes not only in the health
of our community and quality of life, but in our economic development too.
To begin our support efforts, we set three ambitious goals for Giving Tuesday:
$1,500 in contributions, 3 new online fundraisers, and 60 new donors all
in 24 hours! Thanks to your help, we were able to blow our original fundraising
goal out of the water. By 4:00 PM, people had donated over $3,000. At
the end of Giving Tuesday, the community donated $6,750 towards social
determinants of health. We did reach our fundraiser or new donor goal,
but we are humbled by the generosity of our long-standing supporters.
We did welcome six incredible new donors, though!
Local celebrities Brent Baker, Donna Christian, Angela Gill, Dr. Paula
Gustafson, Mary Harper, Jack Horner, LaTisha Idlewine, Mark McNeely, Kris
Meltzer, Deryck Ramey, Kristiaan Rawlings, Warren Robinson, Earsel Smith,
and Travis Weik joined our cause by pledging to donate $100 towards these
social determinants of health for every $100 donated by the public. Your
donations unlocked all $1,500 in these matching gifts!
Thank you to our donors, volunteers, and matching gift celebrities for
making this Giving Tuesday the best yet. Our social determinants fundraising
continues on until the end of 2021. If you'd like to financially support
any of these new mission additions, visit mymhp.org/giving to donate now.
