Cardiac Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation is an outpatient, medically supervised program of
exercise and education. It is a proven effective way to reduce the risk
of a future cardiac event by approximately 25% and reduces costly hospital
admissions.
The MHP Cardiac Rehab Program consists of monitored exercise, emotional
support and teaching our patients ways to make lifestyle changes for a
healthier heart and a better life. A registered nurse and an exercise
specialist design a plan that is safe for you, based on specific heart
conditions and goals.
Who benefits from Cardiac Rehab?
Cardiac rehab is a program for patients who qualify with a diagnosis such
as heart attack, stable angina, coronary artery angioplasty or stent placement,
open heart surgery such as coronary bypass or valve surgery, heart failure,
and heart transplantation. The goal of this program is to help our patients
regain strength, be more active, and reduce the risk of future heart problems.
Attending a rehab program helps many people better deal with the physical
and emotional stress of having a heart condition and coronary artery disease.
Accreditation
The MHP Cardiac Rehab Program is accredited and certified by the American
Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. This means
we have met stringent national quality measures and the highest standard
of care for our cardiac rehabilitation program.
