The MHP Youth Health Program offers personalized consultation and education
for youth ages 11 – 17. The program is lead by a multidisciplinary
team of specialists from the MHP Cardiometabolic & Liver Health Center
and MHP Lifestyle Medicine.
Our program helps find early signs of health problems and teaches simple, healthy habits for life—using Life's Essential 8 Pillars of Heath:
- Nutrition/Diet
- Physical activity
- Restorative sleep
- Weight control
- Avoiding risky substances
- Blood pressure
- Blood lipids
- Blood glucose
What’s Included in the Screening?
- Fatty liver disease
- High cholesterol
- Obesity
- Heart problems
- Diabetes risk
What the screening includes:
- Health history and physical exam
- Lab tests (blood work): including CBC, CMP, hSCRP, fasting lipids, HgbA1c, Lp(a), APO-B, and fasting insulin
- Biometric data: including height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, and body composition (% fat mass, % lean tissue)
What Happens at the Appointments?
- Visit 1: Meet your provider, share your health history, get your physical exam, and get your lab order.
- Visit 2: Go over your lab results, talk about your health risks, and get a personalized health plan.
If ongoing treatment is recommended, patients will have the option of following up with their primary care provider or continuing to work with us for extra support.
Who Qualifies for this program?
- Youth ages 11–17
- Especially encouraged for teens with a family history of heart disease, diabetes, or concerns about weight.
