Dr. Schmidt has trained and practiced in a variety of clinical settings
including elementary schools, state and federal prisons, inpatient hospitals,
and residential and outpatient treatment settings.
Dr. Schmidt works with patients from diverse backgrounds, ranging from
children to older adults. She is particularly interested in the areas
of forensic psychology, the treatment and assessment of sexual offenders
and individuals with problematic sexual behaviors, trauma psychology (including
treatment with survivors of human sex trafficking), substance abuse, psychological
and forensic assessment, and relationship concerns. Dr. Schmidt has worked
with clients in individual, group, and family therapy and has conducted
a variety of psychological assessments, including court ordered forensic
assessments and neuropsychological evaluations. Dr. Schmidt’s therapeutic
approach blends cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal
therapies, in conjunction with systems theory influences.
